FOUNDED IN 1910.
Christ Church began in 1910 in a mission on 15th street in Fort Worth under the direction of A. P. Collins (he was formerly a Baptist minister who had experienced the baptism of the Holy Spirit; in 1914 he served as the General Chairman of the Assemblies of God). There were many pastors and rented locations that the new congregation met in during its first 15 years. They were independent and felt no need to affiliate with a denomination.
FIRST PROPERTY IN 1925.
In 1925 the congregation purchased their first property, joined the Assemblies of God fellowship, and took the official name of First Assembly of God in Fort Worth under the pastoral leadership of Hugh Cadwalder.
BECOMING CHRIST CHURCH.
Under the direction of pastor Jerry King the congregation moved in the early 1970s to 5051 Trail Lake Drive and changed their name to Christ Church.
THE JOHNSTON'S ARE ELECTED.
In 1986, after the resignation of Jerry King, the congregation elected Darius & Cindy Johnston as their Lead Pastors. Under their leadership the congregation has grown from 250 in worship attendance to over 1,300; mothered three other churches (Victory Family in Burleson, Shepherd’s Valley Cowboy Church in Cleburne, and Christ Church West in Willow Park); launched a Spanish speaking congreagation (La Casa de Dios); and relocated to 5301 Altamesa Blvd. in 2000.
CHRIST CHURCH MAIN CAMPUS.
The main campus presently has 104,000 square feet of ministry space that is used for weekend worship, mid-week Bible studies, very active children’s and youth ministries, and a host of community and educational events for the community and school district.
