Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.
Hebrews 2:14-15 NLT
Jesus’ death on the cross purchased freedom for every person willing to accept His work by faith. That freedom included not only freedom from sin and death but also freedom from fear.
Many people live in fear. They become slaves to fear because it determines what they will and will not do. They only half live because of their fear of death.
Once we discover the freedom from fear that comes through a relationship with Jesus, our lives are forever changed. We change the choices we make and the things we do.
Freedom from fear is a powerful gift available to everyone who invites Jesus to be their Savior and Lord. Many people want Jesus to save them from their sins so they can be forgiven and go to heaven instead of hell. But they fail to recognize Jesus did not come just so we could go to heaven when we die. He also came to give us a new way of living right now.
Jesus wants us to live in freedom—freedom from fear!
Lord Jesus, I want to thank You for the freedom from fear. Today, I declare that Jesus has destroyed the power of fear to dominate my life. I will choose to live in faith and not fear.
