You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.
John 15:16 NLT
What does it mean to be chosen?
I remember on the playground choosing up teams for kickball. I wanted to be chosen first. I wanted to be a part of the team that got to play. As a freshman in high school, I also remember trying out for the baseball team and not being chosen. (I had never played organized baseball, so I really wasn’t any good.)
Here is a great revelation—God has chosen us to be a part of His team. He chose me to be in His family and to produce lasting fruit with my life. I am chosen by God—chosen for a purpose. My purpose—and your purpose—is to produce fruit. That means we are chosen to impact people and be partners with God in transforming lives.
God chose us before we were born. He had a plan for our lives. God’s choice for our lives is never based on our perfection, talents, gifts, abilities, looks, or intellect. He wants us in His family regardless of who we are, where we have been, or what we have done.
We are chosen—we must accept that choice and start living in our destiny.
Holy Spirit, please help me to see myself as chosen by God, chosen to produce fruit that will last. I want my life to count for the kingdom of God.
