I am counting on the Lord; yes, I am counting on him. I have put my hope in his word. I long for the Lord more than sentries long for the dawn, yes, more than sentries long for the dawn. O Israel, hope in the Lord; for with the Lord there is unfailing love. His redemption overflows.
Psalm 130:5-7 NLT
Where do you put your hope?
Some people place their hope in their resources, education, good looks, talent, family of origin, or creativity. I suggest all those things will change and are only temporary. The only sure place to put our hope is in the Lord.
Jesus was born as God with us—Immanuel. He came into this world as the Living Word. The Holy Spirit inspired men to write the story of Jesus’ life on earth so that we could have that record in which to place our hope.
Today, we can say with David, “I am counting on the Lord…I have put my hope in his word.”
Regardless of our present circumstances, there is always an opportunity to hope in the Lord. Regardless of the present, we can believe God for a favorable future.
Holy Spirit, please grow a fresh sense of hope in my life. Help me to place my hope in the Lord and His Word. Help me to be a person of hope.
