The Hope of the World

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.

Hebrews 10:23 NLT

Our hope is built on trust in God’s promises. We don’t hope that men will do the right thing—often, they won’t. We don’t hope that our government will pass laws to correct the downward spiral of morality in our nation—sin has twisted the hearts of man beyond the scope of the law to correct.

Our hope is built on the promises of God. We choose to trust that God will keep His promises. He has promised to save everyone who places their faith in Him. That means there will be a transformation in the hearts of those who trust in Him.

God has promised He will return to this earth to set the wrong right. Every knee will bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord. He will establish His kingdom on this earth for one thousand years. There will be peace, justice, love, and joy on this earth, not through legislation but transformation.

Jesus is the hope of our world. That baby, lain in a manger, is the hope of the world. Only Jesus can set the sinner free from our hurts, habits, and hang-ups. Only Jesus can make us new again. Only Jesus can restore that broken marriage that looks impossible. Only Jesus can set the addict free. Only Jesus gives clarity to the confused, peace to the overwhelmed, and hope to the hopeless.

Lord Jesus, I welcome You fresh and new into my heart today. Flow in and through my life. Take charge of my thoughts, words, and actions. Be my Lord. Activate in me the promises of God.
