Beyond the Manger

When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand.

Mark 16:19 NLT

This is the time of year we pause to remember Jesus being born in Bethlehem. We get warm feelings seeing a baby in a manger with shepherds bowing down to Him.

Sometimes, we even pause to remember the purpose of His coming—to die on the cross. We recognize that baby in the manger is going to die for the sins of all humanity.

But Jesus is not still in the manger or on the cross; Jesus is now seated at God’s right hand. Because of His sacrifice, Jesus has been given the place of honor and power.

In the book of Ephesians, we discover that as followers of Christ, we have been seated with Christ. We have been given authority with Jesus. We have delegated authority to implement His kingdom on earth.

Holy Spirit, show me how to release the authority of Jesus through my life. Help me to be an instrument to establish Your kingdom on earth even as it is in heaven.
