Discovering Our Purpose
The Lord frustrates the plans of the nations and thwarts all their schemes. But the Lord’s plans stand firm forever; his intentions can never be shaken.
Psalm 33:10-11 NLT
God has a plan and purpose for each of us. Here is a news flash—God does not allow anyone to destroy His plan for your life except YOU!
When we yield our will to God’s will, we put ourselves in a position to receive God’s purpose for our lives. I believe the two most significant moments of our lives are when we are born and when we discover why we were born.
We are all wired in such a way that we feel best about ourselves and life in general when we are functioning in the purpose for which we were created. The key is discovering God’s purpose for our lives.
When we choose to give time to fasting and prayer, we are putting ourselves in a position to receive God’s direction for our lives. We can expect the Holy Spirit to begin to speak to our hearts about God’s plans and purposes.
The clarity in our purpose comes from spending time in the presence of God. When we get quiet before God, we will discover He has been speaking.
I believe our biggest problem is to get ourselves quiet before God. There are so many distractions. We must be intentional about setting aside time to LISTEN.
I am praying this year will be a year where we all discover the purpose and plan God has for each of us.
Holy Spirit, please help me discipline myself to set aside time to listen to You. Help me to develop a regular habit of listening so that I can hear Your purpose and plans.
