Choose Wisdom

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
How much better to get wisdom than gold, and good judgment than silver!
Proverbs 16:16 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
We live in a society that often thinks attaining money is the top priority. Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, learned a valuable lesson—it’s “better to get wisdom than gold, and good judgment than silver!”
There is a difference between wisdom, good judgment, and knowledge. Knowledge is the accumulation of information. We can know formulas and be great at games of trivia with knowledge. But wisdom is the ability to use knowledge productively. Good judgment is insight or discernment—you have the ability to listen to the Spirit within you, giving you direction.
In the book of James (chapter one and verse five), God promised to give wisdom to those who ask. I suggest we should spend more time asking for wisdom than for a new job, more money, or other things. Wisdom is better than gold—let’s go for wisdom.
Let’s ask the Holy Spirit to give us that ability to make good choices. The choices we make will determine the future in which we live.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, I am asking today for wisdom. I want to think God’s thoughts. I want the ability to make good choices. Help me to listen to Your gentle nudge throughout my day.
