But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
Galatians 5:22-23 NLT
Fruit reveals the kind of plant you have. If you see grapes, you know it is a grapevine. If you see apples, you know it is an apple tree. If you see tomatoes, you know it is a tomato vine. The fruit reveals the plant.
If we are followers of Christ, the Spirit of God lives in us, and therefore, His fruit will naturally be evident in our lives. If we lack any qualities of the fruit, something must be blocking that fruit from growing in our lives.
As we seek more of God in our lives, we should be seeking more of His fruit to be evident in our lives. We should be asking ourselves, “How is my expression of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control?”
Our time with God should increase the growth of His fruit in our lives.
Years ago, we had a friend who decided to grow tomatoes. She was amazing at it. Daily, she would care for the vines, cultivate the soil, and be sure nothing hindered their growth. Her tomatoes were fantastic. She even made it into a local magazine with her tomatoes.
I wonder if we should be spending more time working with the Holy Spirit to cultivate the fruit in our lives. What do I need to do to allow His fruit to grow more in my life? Do people see the Spirit’s fruit through me? If not, why not?
As we open ourselves up for more of God, let’s be sure the fruit is showing.
Holy Spirit, show me what I can do to allow Your fruit to grow more in my life. Help me today to be sure that nothing in my life blocks Your fruit from being seen in me.
