Faith over Feelings
“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”
Psalm 46:10 NLT
Feelings are real, but not always accurate. It is okay to get angry at God when life seems to be out of control or overwhelming. In the psalms, David often complained to God about what he felt was injustice. God is big enough to handle our feelings.
But we must be careful that we don’t allow our feeling to control our faith. Our faith has to be the filter for our feelings. Our faith in the truth of God is what sustains us and keeps us going when our feelings are hurting.
This is why God instructs us to “Be still, and know that I am God!” We need to remind our feelings that we serve a loving Heavenly Father. He loves us and wants the best for our lives. He is going to carry us through every storm and difficulty of life.
Our faith must filter our feelings. We can’t allow our feelings to control our faith. My faith is anchored in the Word of God, not in my experiences or my pain.
Holy Spirit, help me to know Your truth and keep Your truth as the controlling force of my life. Help me to have those moments of being still and knowing You.
