About eight days later Jesus took Peter, John, and James up on a mountain to pray. And as he was praying, the appearance of his face was transformed, and his clothes became dazzling white. Suddenly, two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared and began talking with Jesus. They were glorious to see. And they were speaking about his exodus from this world, which was about to be fulfilled in Jerusalem.
Luke 9:28-31 NLT
Just an interesting observation—before His arrest, trial, suffering, and crucifixion, Jesus goes to a mountain to pray. During His prayer time, Moses and Elijah appear with Him and encourage Jesus as they talk about what is ahead. Here is my thought—if Jesus needed some encouragement for the issues He would face, perhaps, I need some folks around me to help encourage my life.
Who do I have in my life that will join me in prayer when I have something big coming up in my life? Who do I have that will pray for me regularly even when there is not something big happening? Who are my encouragers?
On the flip side—who am I lifting up in prayer? Who do I encourage to walk out this faith journey?
I believe God has designed us to need each other in our battle. We should never fight alone. We should be connected to each other—especially through prayer.
Holy Spirit, help me live in community with others who pray for me, and I pray for them. Help me to know how to pray for them. Help me to be open with them so they can pray for me.
