For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
Philippians 4:13 NLT
We live in an age of self-empowerment. We believe in ourselves and our ability to go beyond, and we push ourselves to new feats and conquest.
In the sports world, people are continually pushing themselves to be better and achieve more. You might even hear or see an athlete use this passage of scripture to motivate themselves to try harder.
But this passage is not about self-empowerment. It is not about what I can do but what Christ can do through me. The Spirit of God living inside of me is the One Who gives me strength.
Anything God wants me to do, He will give me the strength to do it. He is living and working in me. He will empower me to accomplish the task for which He created me. I have to learn to know God’s will in my life and trust Him to work His will through me as I trust in Him.
He will do the heavy lifting if I will do the heavy trusting.
It is not my strength but my trust that empowers me to be able to do all things.
Holy Spirit, I need You to teach me and direct me so that I know God’s will for my life. I need help trusting You. I declare that I can do all things through Christ, Who strengthens me every day.
