Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:54-57 NLT
We are victorious through the work of Jesus!
There will be moments when we don’t feel victorious; moments when doubt, confusion, frustration, and disappointment try to invade our hearts. Being a follower of Jesus does not insulate us from the difficulties of life. Rather, being a follower of Jesus gives us a new perspective on life.
As a follower of Jesus, I am convinced this life is not all there is. There is life after death. Jesus has conquered death and taken the sting of death. On the cross, He destroyed the power of sin in our lives and therefore freed us to live victorious on earth and to live forever in heaven.
This means that I have a different perspective on the difficulties of life. All my struggles are temporary; I am eternal. I will outlive every pain, hurt, rejection, disappointment, sickness, financial setback, and struggle of life. I will spend eternity in heaven with Almighty God.
If I understand this is all temporary, then it changes my perspective. I am a firm believer you can live through hell if you know it is temporary. The moment you lose perspective is the moment you quit.
Lord Jesus, I give You thanks that I am more than a conqueror through You. You have given me the victory over sin and death. I do not have to live in fear. I am eternal and will enjoy eternity with You.
