The Blame Game

October 16, 2020

Keep me from lying to myself; give me the privilege of knowing your instructions. I have chosen to be faithful; I have determined to live by your regulations.

Psalm 119:29-30 NLT

Life is full of choices. When our choices don’t give us the desired results, we play what I call the “Blame Game.” Some of us have developed this into a real skill. We blame our parents, our friends, the government, our boss, our spouse, or a whole list of possible candidates.

Often the blame game is part of our unwillingness to admit the truth to ourselves. We lie to ourselves. We refuse to take responsibility for our choices. And the cycle of defeat continues.

Choosing to live in truth with ourselves is a major breakthrough. Once we know God’s truth and choose to live by His truth, we can stop lying to ourselves. Once we stop lying to ourselves, it is easy to stop lying to others.

Holy Spirit, help me to know God’s truth. Help me to never lie to myself, to You, or others. Help me to be a person of integrity in every part of my life.
