So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”
Romans 8:15 NLT
There is power in the Word of God. The Word of God is our sword for battle—it is our only offensive weapon. We must work to be good swordsmen.
There are three Greek words used to speak of the Word of God. There is graphe which means the written Word—the actual words written on paper that have been combined into the Bible. Then there are the truths of the written Word—in Greek, it is logos. Logos is the message behind the written Words.
But there is also the “rhema” word of God. Rhema is the spoken truths of God’s written Word. When we speak the rhema word of God, we are using the sword of Spirit.
I do this by personalizing the written Word. I declare with my mouth, “I am not a fearful slave because I have received God’s Spirit and adopted into the family of God. I declare God is my Father, and I am His child.”
I believe I must identify with God’s Word for it to change my identity. Many people, even followers of Christ, are confused about their identity. Even though they are forgiven, they are confused and frustrated because they don’t see themselves as free.
Start today to personalize the written Word. Memorize it and verbalize it by speaking it over yourself—and others.
Holy Spirit, help me today to understand the truths of the written Word of God so that I make it the rhema Word destroying Satan’s work in and around my life.
